VIDEO Ashville – Local man crashes into auto parts store early Sunday morning

ASHVILLE, August 11, 2024 – An Ashville man drove his truck into a local auto parts store early Sunday morning, and police didn’t have to look far to investigate the incident. The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a red Dodge Ram pickup truck veered off Main Street and collided with the NAPA Auto Parts store at 99 Main Street, right next to the Ashville Police Department.

According to Ashville Police reports, the Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass another vehicle. The truck lost control and left the road, striking the NAPA building and causing significant damage to the structure and its contents.

The incident was captured by police exterior cameras, which recorded the truck’s erratic movements prior to the crash. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Davis of Ashville, was found at the scene of the crash and was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Davis was charged with driving under the influence (OVI); additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
