WINTER PARK, Florida. – A small local business in Winter Park was the target of a brazen break-in Thursday morning.

Carlos Tamajon, owner of The Crafty Gamer, said the incident left his family store with broken glass and caused a financial setback.

Tamajon described the moment he learned of the break-in.

“I was sleeping at home with my kids and I was woken up very early in the morning by one of my friends who helps me at the store and said, ‘Hey, the police called me, I don’t know what’s going on.’ I came here and found broken glass and things blocking my door. That’s not a call I wanted to get that early in the morning. My kids used to come by and say, ‘Dad, what happened to your store?’ It was embarrassing having to explain to them that some people don’t always wish you well. Honestly, you lose it a little bit. It was just hard to believe,” Tamajon said.

Surveillance footage from inside “The Craft Gamer” shows the suspect breaking the window, heading straight for the cash register and fleeing the scene within about 20 seconds.

“If you steal from us, it costs us a few hundred dollars, a few thousand dollars. It costs us weeks, if not months. We’re such a small shop,” Tamajon said.

Despite the setback, the local community quickly supported the family business.

“The community wasted no time,” Tamajon said. “We had people come and help us sweep the glass. Our neighbors found us someone that same day who could replace the glass. They helped us sweep everything away.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect had already fled by the time officers arrived and that the investigation was still ongoing.
