Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson apparently suffered a leg injury in the second half of his team’s Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jefferson was injured blocking a running play in the third quarter. He ran down the field to get past the 49ers defenders, but collided with Fred Warner.

Jefferson eventually limped off the field with the help of the Minnesota coaching staff. He was taken to the blue medical tent for treatment before returning to the locker room under his own power for further evaluation.

The Vikings later announced that Jefferson’s return was questionable due to a quadriceps injury. The veteran wide receiver led the team with 133 yards and a touchdown on four catches before leaving the game.

Following the game, head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed that Jefferson suffered a bruised quadriceps and that the wide receiver would “hopefully” be ready to play day to day.

Jefferson was injured with 52 seconds left in the third quarter while acting as a decoy on a Ty Chandler run.

Chandler ran around left end for a five-yard gain while Jefferson came from his outside receiver position to help block. He ran into Warner and fell to the ground in pain. He stayed down after the play, as did 49ers star Nick Bosa, who also suffered an injury during the run.

The Vikings announced that Jefferson suffered a quadriceps injury during the game, which O’Connell confirmed after the game.

Who is Justin Jefferson’s backup in the Vikings lineup?

Trishton Jackson is listed on the Vikings’ roster as Jefferson’s immediate backup. Jackson played for Minnesota in the preseason and showed good speed and chemistry with the Vikings’ quarterbacks.
