Visitors may return to the Gulf State Park Pier on Monday, August 19.

GULF SHORES, Alabama (WALA) – The Gulf State Park Pier will reopen to tourists and anglers at 7 a.m. Monday, August 19, as renovations that began in November 2023 are completed.

Reporters, photographers and videographers are welcome to visit the pier Monday morning. A Gulf State Park representative will be available for interviews beginning at 7 a.m. Most of the pier’s facilities, including the gift shop, restaurant and beach access, will reopen Monday. However, the pier’s elevated observation deck will remain closed and will not be accessible until a new elevator is installed to bring it into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

An official opening and community celebration is planned for a later date.

“It’s wonderful to know that the Gulf State Park Pier will once again be open to all,” said Chris Blankenship, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. “Our goal was to have the pier open by Labor Day weekend, and it’s gratifying to know we’ve met that goal.”
