  • A Tiguan driver claimed she was driving too fast at 196 km/h because the gas tank was emptying quickly.
  • After initially stopping for the police, she sped off again, triggering a second chase.
  • The officers finally managed to overpower the repeat offender by forcibly driving her vehicle into a ditch.

None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes in our normal lives, even when we’re behind the wheel of a car. However, some people make one bad decision after another. A typical example is a woman driving a Volkswagen Tiguan through eastern Arkansas.

Although she is nameless, we do have some key details about the driver in question. This chase occurred on April 7, 2024, just after 3 a.m. near West Memphis, which is just across the Tennessee border and in the state of Arkansas. If you’ve been following our reporting here at Carscoops, you know that the Arkansas State Police have no qualms about using force against motorists.

This video starts with the suspect driver in a Volkswagen driving past a parked Arkansas State Trooper at 122 mph. This is stupid decision number one. Of course, the trooper gives chase, eventually catches up, and initiates a traffic stop. It takes about a minute for the VW driver to stop. This feels like mistake number two.

As soon as they stop, they plead with the cop that it’s an “emergency.” And what kind of emergency is that? “I’m running out of gas!” they say. Strike three, but that’s not baseball, so the nonsense continues.

After a short discussion with the shouting officer (perhaps not the best move on the part of the police officer in question), the driver flees the scene of the accident again!

At this point, the suspect’s patience is completely exhausted. The ASP police officer quickly catches up with her, applies the PIT maneuver and begins the arrest. “I just want to go to the gas station,” the suspect calls out. The connection between speed and fuel consumption seems to have escaped this woman.

When asked if she had been drinking, she brilliantly replies, “Not much.” I can hardly count how many bad decisions she made during this phase.

The video claims that this woman only ended up with a few serious charges like reckless driving, speeding, and possession of an open bottle of alcohol. Just remember that there are people like this not-so-brilliant VW driver all over the road.
