The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that 237 ml bottles of Great Value brand apple juice, sold in six-packs, may be contaminated.

The recall affects 9,535 cases of juice from Florida-based company Refresco.

“The health and safety of our customers is always our top priority,” Walmart representative Molly Blakeman said in a press statement.

“We have removed this product from our affected stores and are investigating the case together with the supplier.”

Although arsenic can cause health problems at elevated levels, the FDA has not reported any illnesses related to the recall.

Products like this are regularly tested to ensure they meet regulatory guidelines. The Great Value apple juice contained about 13 parts per billion of arsenic, slightly above the safety limit of 10 parts per billion.
