Walmart in North Logan evacuated after bomb threat; police arrest suspect | News – KVNU

LOGAN — A suspect was taken into custody for questioning after a bomb threat was made against the Walmart in North Logan. The incident caused the store to remain closed for several hours Sunday morning while police investigated.

North Park Police Chief Kent Goodrich said agents with the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received a tip online that there was going to be a bomb at the North Logan Walmart, 1550 North Main. The threat was uncovered at 1:13 a.m. Sunday morning when the store was closed.

“Due to this threat,” Goodrich explained, “police contacted Walmart management, who evacuated their employees and then closed the store to the public for several hours Sunday morning while we completed the investigation.”

Investigators were able to link the threat to an IP address and arrest a suspect who allegedly has no connection to the business.

Goodrich thanked the store management and employees for their cooperation.

“The store was searched and no threat to the public was found,” Goodrich said. “The store is back open.”

The identity of the suspect was not disclosed pending the completion of the police investigation.

Goodrich said the store remained closed out of an abundance of caution until 10:30 a.m., when it was determined the threat was a hoax. No injuries or damage were reported at the store.

“We are aware of what happened at the North Logan store,” a Walmart spokesperson confirmed in a written statement to Cache Valley Daily on Sunday afternoon. “A threat was made that resulted in the store being closed from approximately 3 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. After police investigation, it was determined that the threat was a false alarm.”

Walmart’s usual Sunday opening hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
