Walmart-owned Flipkart appoints Ramesh Gururaja as Senior VP of Consumer Product

Walmart-owned Flipkart appoints Ramesh Gururaja as Senior VP of Consumer Product

Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart, which competes with Amazon India, has appointed Ramesh Gururaja as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Consumer Products.

The latest appointment is part of Flipkart’s strategy to consolidate its leadership and streamline operations following a series of top-level departures earlier this year.

Gururaja, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in leading consumer goods, will report directly to Jeyandran Venugopal, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Flipkart.

Gururaja’s experience and background

Gururaja brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Flipkart. Previously, he served as Chief Product Officer and Head of Shared Consumer Platform at Tokopedia, an Indonesian e-commerce giant.

Prior to joining Tokopedia, Gururaja held senior positions at Amazon and worked in various management roles at Microsoft for over 16 years.

His career has been marked by significant contributions to mobile product development and the successful launch of customer-centric products across multiple platforms.

In his new role, Gururaja will assume responsibilities previously managed by Anand Lakshminarayanan and Bharath Ram, both of whom left Flipkart earlier this year.

Flipkart’s ongoing leadership restructuring

Gururaja’s appointment is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader leadership shakeup at Flipkart. The company has been restructuring its leadership team following several high-profile departures.

Earlier this year, four senior vice presidents left the company, including the heads of Cleartrip, Marketplace and Categories, Fintech and Payments, and Growth and Retention.

In addition, Flipkart recently expanded Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha’s role to include heading Flipkart Fashion, further consolidating its operations.
