Earlier this year, news broke that many Walmart stores in the giant retailer’s service area would soon open Mr. Gattis pizza locations. Mr. Gattis has long been a popular pizza place in Louisiana, but if you thought Walmart was done making changes to its in-store food offerings, you’re wrong. To quote the late Billy Mays, “But wait, there’s more.”

Across America, Walmart is going through a bit of a remodeling phase. Stores across the country have received new exteriors and interiors, lots of new paint, and many branches have replaced and refurbished the shopping carts we use to pick up our groceries.

And while the hiring of Mr. Gattis is seen by some as a huge positive step, there were other customers who hoped Walmart would offer customers even more in-store food options. Many Walmart stores currently offer McDonald’s, Subway or Taco Bell, but in addition to remodeling stores, Walmart officials also thought “refreshing the store offerings” would be a good idea.

Walmart has now announced plans to offer Knuckies Hoagies in some of its stores. Knuckies Hoagies is a sandwich chain based in Milton, Georgia. The brand specializes in fresh sandwiches and cheesesteaks. The chain also offers a selection of fresh salads for those who want them as a meal option.

Walmart stores that offer Knuckies Hoagies could also house a location of Alumni Cookie Dough Shop. The agreement between Walmart and Knuckies allows franchises to take advantage of this option as well. Knuckies is currently available in Walmart stores in six states, including Oklahoma and Texas.

We should mention that the giant retailer has also agreed to expand its partnership with Uncle Sharkii’s Poke. This will give shoppers even more food options should they wish to eat while shopping.

Will all of these dining options be available at a Walmart in Louisiana? It’s entirely possible. However, Walmart management is asking for your patience. The company-wide remodeling and renewal is expected to take several years, so it will be more than a few months before you notice the changes at your hometown Walmart.
