The 25-year-old from Winnipeg beat Turkey’s Hatice Kubra Ilgan 2-0 in a repechage to advance. Park defeated Ilgan 6-4 in the first round and 3-2 in the second.

The Canadian lost her quarterfinal match to Kim Yujin of South Korea, but Kim’s entry into the final gave Park another chance at a medal through a repechage.

Park will fight against Lebanon’s Laetitia Aoun in one of two bouts for the bronze medal in Olympic taekwondo.

Park defeated Czech Dominika Hronova 2-0 in her opening match at the Grand Palais.

USA beats Brazil in thrilling women’s volleyball semifinal

Brazil led 5-3 and was 10 points away from winning the fifth set with the first to 15 when the Americans caught up and tied it at 6-6, briefly taking the lead on a spike from Jordan Thompson.

Morocco beats Egypt and wins bronze in men’s football

Soufiane Rahimi scored twice and Morocco won the bronze medal with a 6-0 victory over Egypt on Thursday, giving the team its first ever podium finish at the Olympic Games.

Abde Ezzalzouli, Bilal El Khannouss, Akram Nakach and Achraf Hakimi also scored goals for Morocco, who went into halftime with a 2-0 lead to the delight of Moroccan fans at La Beaujoire Stadium.

Rahimi scored eight goals at the Paris Olympics, the most of the entire tournament. At 28, he is one of the overage players eligible for the U23 Olympic teams.

For Egypt it was the third fourth place at the Olympic Games – after Amsterdam 1928 and Tokyo 1964.

Morocco was inspired throughout the tournament by its senior team, which surprisingly reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. The players were also supported by the loyal fans who accompanied the team on its tour of France.

“Of course we wanted to win the gold medal, but to win a game like this and to win our country’s first medal here and in front of so many of our fans is an incredible feeling,” said striker Ilias Akhomach.
