FARGO – Craig Bohl said he felt chills down his spine when he received the call from Tim Polasek about his induction into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame.

“Coach Polasek is like a son to me and his voice broke when he called. This place is so special and it’s heartwarming to be among these other great sports legends,” Bohl said Friday after the banquet.

Bohl was one of eight members of the star-studded class of 2024, which also included all-time basketball greats Ben Woodside and Brett Winkelman.

Bohl resigned as head coach at Wyoming last December after coaching the Cowboys for 10 years before spending 11 years as coach in Fargo. He has barely returned and given no interviews since taking the Wyoming job.

There is a concrete reason for this, said Bohl.

“Coach Polasek invited me back to talk to the football team in August and I went into the team room and that was the first real hug. I intentionally stayed away out of respect for the head coaches here and now that I’m no longer coaching.”

Bohl will be honored along with the other new recruits during halftime of Saturday’s game against Towson at the Fargodome. He will also conduct the pregame coin toss.

You can watch the interview Bohl did with WDAY’s Dom Izzo. Bohl will also be a guest on Bison Gameday on WDAY Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
