Dr. Carol Pierce (Tamberla Perry) introduces Dr. Nichols to Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto), the hospital’s new neurosurgeon who requested the MRI scan for the patient. Nichols switches tunes a little and becomes professional to shake Wolf’s hand and politely tell him that he has heard a lot about him and his work.

“I haven’t heard from you,” says Wolf, leaving Nichols obviously somewhat stunned by his directness.

To ease the tension, Pierce continues the introduction, informing Wolf that Nichols is the hospital’s head of neurosurgery and that he was the one who performed the procedure on their patient Hannah. Nichols claims that Hannah “hasn’t had a single seizure since my surgery.”

So he asks: Why the MRI?

“Yeah, but you made her into a woman who snubs her children,” Wolf interjects, and from there it’s a back-and-forth that only ends because Nichols is sent elsewhere. But not before he lands one final blow, telling Pierce and Wolf to “by all means keep wasting your time and the hospital’s resources.”

He walks away, and Pierce, visibly frustrated with her colleagues, is obviously unwilling to put up with their problems.

“Phew. Do I ever have to talk to him again?” asks Wolf.
