Weather forecast for Louisiana after Hurricane Francine worsens | Hurricane Center

Rising temperatures are expected in southeast Louisiana over the next few days as the remnants of Hurricane Francine retreat from the region and hundreds of thousands of residents across the state face ongoing power outages.

Hannah Lisney, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New Orleans, said in a press conference Thursday morning that heat temperatures of up to 100 degrees are expected in some parts of southern Louisiana this weekend.

“I know nobody wants to hear this, but the sun is going to come out and temperatures are going to start to rise again,” Lisney said. “Fortunately, we’re not going to have to expect excessive heat this weekend, but it will be a little hotter.”

“So if you’re outside helping your neighbor, cleaning up your own yard or doing anything else to recover, please drink plenty of water, be sure to wear sunscreen, wear light-colored clothing and please, please, please listen to your body,” Lisney said. “If you need a break, take a break in the shade or indoors.”
