The Hawkeye Wrestling Club encourages fans to welcome Lee home Saturday night at Eastern Iowa Airport
CEDAR RAPIDS – A welcome home celebration is planned for University of Iowa Olympic silver medalist and former three-time NCAA champion Spencer Lee.
The Hawkeye Wrestling Club encourages wrestling fans to join members in welcoming Lee home Saturday night at the Eastern Iowa Airport. His return flight is scheduled to arrive at approximately 10:56 p.m. and fans are asked to be there by 10 p.m. if the flight leaves earlier.
According to a press release from UI’s sports information department, the celebration will take place in the main lobby outside of the security checkpoint in the terminal.
Fans are asked to park in the short-term parking lot.
Lee won the silver medal in men’s freestyle wrestling in the 125.5-pound (57-kilogram) class at the Olympic Games in Paris, France. He is the 11th Hawkeye medalist and 20th overall to wrestle in the Olympic Games.
Lee is the second Hawkeye to win Olympic silver, with Barry Davis doing so in 1984. Iowa has had a medalist at two consecutive Olympic Games, with Thomas Gilman taking bronze in Tokyo in 2021 (the medal was postponed from 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic).

Welcome Spencer Lee back to Iowa City on Saturday
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Fans are encouraged to join the Hawkeye Wrestling Club in welcoming former University of Iowa wrestler Spencer Lee to Iowa City on Saturday. Lee is scheduled to arrive at Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) at approximately 10:56 p.m. CT.
Fans are advised to arrive around 10pm as the flight may leave earlier. The celebration will take place in the main lobby outside of security. Fans should park in the short-term parking lot.
