FC Bayern Munich will be looking to maintain their 100 percent win rate when they face Werder Bremen at the Bundesliga’s Weserstadion on Saturday afternoon.
Vincent Kompany’s side go into this game on the back of a convincing 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, which saw Harry Kane become England’s top scorer in European competitions with 33 goals in 45 games, surpassing Wayne Rooney.
Vincent Kompany’s team has nine points and has won against Wolfsburg, Freiburg and Holstein Kiel. This puts them two points ahead of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
But their game at the Weserstadion will not be easy, as Ole Werner’s team remains one of five unbeaten teams in the current Bundesliga season with one win and two draws, while Werder celebrated a 1-0 victory against Bayern last season.
Team news from Werder Bremen
However, Werder Bremen will have to do without captain Marco Friedl, the defender was sent off in the 2-1 win against Mainz last weekend. Amos Pieper is set to step in for the Austrian in the hosts’ back three.
In addition, Bremen will have to do without the fast Justin Njinmah, who is out with an ankle injury; Marco Grüll is likely to be in his place in the starting eleven.
Team news from FC Bayern Munich
Manuel Neuer was sent off in the match against Dinamo Zagreb during the week and replaced by Sven Ulreich after he suffered a thigh injury following a collision with Bruno Petković. However, Kompany will decide who will start in goal for Bayern at short notice as the club does not want to take any unnecessary risks.
In addition to Neuer, Bayern will also have to do without Sacha Boey until further notice and Josip Stanišić has not yet been able to play a Bundesliga game this season due to a knee injury.
