Wes Blair appointed police chief by Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has appointed Wes Blair as Chief of Police to lead the law enforcement and crime prevention activities of the Memphis International Airport Police Department. In this role, he will work closely with all MSCAA departments to develop and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures designed to achieve the agency’s goals and objectives. He will begin his new role on August 12, 2024.

Mr. Blair brings more than 28 years of law enforcement experience, extensive leadership roles and a proven track record of improving safety in a variety of environments. Most recently, he served as Chief of Police for the City of Cape

Girardeau, Missouri, where he managed a department of 130 employees. In this position, he implemented new systems for records management, computer-aided dispatch, a 911 call center, and radio interoperability. He also oversaw the construction of a new police facility. Mr. Blair also served as Deputy Chief of Police and Sergeant/Detective for the City of Lancaster, Texas.

Together, we will continue to protect the airport community and maintain public trust in our services.”

Mr. Blair earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Mountain State University. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas and a doctorate in correctional leadership from Liberty University.
