So the forecast for Dover is not sunny. The skies over Mondegreen are, shall we say, divided.

Seasoned Phish fans know what it’s like to be in the rain and know that you can still have a lot of fun. If you’re safe and prepared, you can keep dancing without worrying, and if you’re not, we’ve got you covered.

Read on to learn what the weather will be like in Dover for the rest of the weekend, how to stay safe during a storm, and what to do if you need supplies.

The Mondegreen forecast

Scattered showers are forecast throughout Saturday, with a 30% chance of rain. Thunderstorms are possible after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The forecast for Sunday is the same, but with a 70% chance of rain.

Showers are likely Saturday night and thunderstorms are possible. Sunday night, the National Weather Service says showers will likely continue until 11 p.m., with thunderstorms possible. After 2 a.m., the chance of rain and thunderstorms decreases.

How to stay safe

The odds of being struck by lightning are less than 1 in a million, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and nearly 90% of lightning strike victims survive. Even when camping, a thunderstorm shouldn’t scare you if you keep an eye on the weather and take precautions.

Watch for distant lightning and listen for distant thunder. If you see or hear them, seek shelter indoors and away from water. Shelters should be enclosed buildings – do not go into a gazebo or other open-sided building.

The safest option is to shelter in your car. According to numerous sources, tents are not safe during a storm. However, if you are stuck in a tent, do not touch the frame or cover and try to stay in the middle. Put something like your air mattress or backpack between you and the ground.

The beginning and end of a storm are the most dangerous times, says the CDC, so wait 30 minutes after a storm before resuming outdoor activities.
