Vice President Kamala Harris was quick to attack former President Donald Trump in Tuesday night’s presidential debate for his ties to the architects of Project 2025.

“I tell you, in the debate tonight, you’re going to hear the same old, tired script over and over again, a bunch of lies, complaints and name-calling,” Harris said in the first few minutes of the debate.

“What you will hear tonight is a detailed and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that the former president intends to implement if re-elected.”

Trump has once again had to distance himself from and defend the controversial plan to restructure the US government, Project 2025, which was drawn up by the Heritage Foundation. For weeks, Trump has been plagued by his relationship with the authors of the 900-page, pro-Trump plan, which calls for mass deportations, the dissolution of the Department of Education, stricter abortion controls and drastic cuts to climate protection.

“First of all, I have nothing to do with Project 2025 – as you know and as you know better than anyone,” Trump said. “It’s out there. I haven’t read it. I don’t intentionally want to read it. I’m not going to read it.”

Democrats have repeatedly tried to link Trump to the most controversial aspects of the plans.

Allies stepped in. Actress Taraji Henson brought up the issue at the BET Awards, adding fuel to the fire.

It also played a major role at the Democratic Party Convention: Comedian Kenan Thompson performed a comic version of “Project 2025” to make fun of Trump and the project.

It is true that Project 2025 was not designed by the Trump campaign team. However, the policy proposals include Trump loyalists and allies, as well as former officials.

These officials are likely candidates for a second Trump administration.
