Many Arizonans get tired of the heat in late July, when summer seems to stretch into the second half of the year longer than desired. Triple-digit temperatures in September require a break from life in metropolitan Phoenix and another vacation before summer officially ends.
Finding the best vacation spot that will accommodate, delight, and please all family members with different personalities and ages is a big challenge for parents. Luckily, USA Today has rounded up the best family-friendly campgrounds in the country, and this Arizona location made the top three.

Where is the Islander Resort?
This lakefront resort is located on the Arizona side of the Colorado River in Lake Havasu City. While the Islander Resort doesn’t have traditional tent sites, it does have plenty of RV sites and vacation homes to rent or buy.
All RV sites on this small island are approximately 3′ x 5′ gravel sites with an area of concrete picnic tables. According to the website, full hookups include 30 or 50 amp electric, water and sewer to fully service your RV.
Alternatively, you can visit this resort in a rental home. All Islander Resort accommodations – individually decorated to create a unique atmosphere – include satellite television, a private shaded patio, an outdoor grill, a fully equipped kitchen and parking.
