A food truck selling sandwiches and chicken wings has evolved into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Gastonia.

Where are they?

Tino’s Munch Box is now simply called “Tino’s” and the restaurant is located at 3204 Union Road, Gastonia.

Who is the owner?

Owner Mike Sorrentino has been in the restaurant business for a long time and the restaurant is a natural extension of his work, which he enjoys a lot.

“I’ve always worked in the restaurant business since I was young,” Sorrentino said. “And the only reason I stopped was because I couldn’t make money working for someone else.”

Sorrentino worked as a warehouse worker and commercial driver for about 10 years before opening Tino’s Munch Box. He operated the food truck for about four years, but he said it was difficult to make a profit.

“I learned a lot from it, but I didn’t really make much money from it,” he said. “I never had a place where I could build my own reputation.”

How are you?

Tino’s opened on April 24th, and just over a week after opening, the phone at the restaurant started ringing and wouldn’t stop.

“We’ve had several people here four or five times,” Sorrentino said.

The restaurant sells wraps, burgers, cheesesteaks, salads and wings with various side dishes.

“If we continue like this, we will achieve great things,” Sorrentino said.
