Marvel Studios fans experienced a relative drought in 2024, with only Deadpool and Wolverine came to cinemas in July and a short echo miniseries on Disney+ in January. It is fitting that Agatha all the timethe first live-action Marvel television series in nine months, is a reminiscence of the very first Marvel series on Disney+: WandaVision.

Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness in the 2021 series, a witch who tried to steal the powers of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). Now powerless, Agatha must regain her magical abilities and find a new coven to help her survive the trials of the witch’s path.

This series, the first two of nine episodes of which will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, will be different from most previous Marvel shows – with their comedy and musical numbers – as well as the established comic book mythology behind the characters. To bring everyone up to speed, we’re sharing everything you need to know about Agatha all the time.

Who is Agatha Harkness?

Agatha Harkness’ roots go back 55 years to her first appearance in the Fantastic Four Comic series. In 1969, writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby introduced Agatha as an elderly witch who survived the Salem witch trials in the 17th century. She became the nanny of Franklin Richards—the son of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic and Susan Storm Richards/Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four—before teaching magic to Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

WandaVision introduced a physically younger version of Agatha who had evil intentions towards Wanda and her power. Agatha even tried to steal Wanda’s birthright after she threatened the twins Billy and Tommy, the children Wanda had conjured up for her dream life with Vision. As punishment for her transgressions, Wanda cast a spell that trapped Agatha in the false identity of her town of Westview, NJ’s nosy neighbor, Agnes. Due to the impact of Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha in the MCU, her comic book character was recently rejuvenated to a much younger woman with a darker side than in the past.

Meet the witches

Aubrey Plaza, who previously starred in the FX adaptation of Marvel’s legionplays Rio Vidal, a new character created for this series. The series’ trailers suggest that Rio and Agatha have a shared past. Rio is also known as the Green Witch, but her powers are not yet defined.

Of all the witches in Agatha’s new coven, Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale has the longest history in the Marvel comics universe. Jennifer’s first appearances were alongside Man-Thing, the creature who made a memorable cameo in Marvel’s live-action Halloween special. Werewolf at night in 2022. It is unknown if this version of Jennifer has the same connection to Man-Thing.

Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) is a newer addition to Marvel’s comic book line. She has only appeared a few times, but Alice is known as the witch’s protector.

The wild seventies And The ‘90s show Star Debra Jo Rupp had a small supporting role in WandaVision as Sharon Davis, one of the residents of Westview who was turned by Wanda. It was not revealed in this series that Sharon is a witch, so it is currently unknown how or why she was recruited into Agatha’s new coven.

Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer Patti LuPone has been cast as Lilia Calderu, a powerful witch who led her own coven in the comics. LuPone’s singing talent will come in handy as Agatha all the time will include several original musical numbers.

The last member of Agatha’s Circle is Joe Locke’s character, who reports to Teen. Since Locke’s casting, it has been rumored that the Heart Stopper The actor would play a teenage incarnation of Wanda’s son Billy Kaplan. If this turns out to be true, it raises several questions about how he can exist in a world he was never born in. Teen has also been cursed by someone to prevent him from revealing his true identity. But who has the power to do that? And why? This has to be one of the central mysteries of the season.

Will Elizabeth Olsen appear in “Agatha All Along”?

Whether Olsen will appear as Wanda in this series is an incredibly well-kept secret. So far, there is no indication that the avenger Actress becomes guest star in Agatha all the timeOlsen recently reiterated her desire to reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff if there is “a good opportunity to use her.”

Will there be another “WandaVision” spinoff?

Yes, but not before 2026. Paul Bettany has signed a contract for a solo role vision series, with James Spader reprising his voice role as Vision’s creator Ultron.

Although this series is still two years away, Marvel fans can follow Agatha’s story in the meantime.
