Wheel of Fortune is not for the faint of heart – as one candidate named Vivian’s devastating error during an “easy” bonus round puzzle.
On Monday, September 16, Vivian won the popular game show hosted by Ryan Seacrest And Vanna WhiteHowever, as can be seen in a clip posted on The Wheel of Fortune On her social media accounts, she narrowly missed winning $1 million.
Vivian landed on a puzzle worth $1 million in the regular round—that is, $1 million was added as a possible prize for her puzzle in the bonus round.
For the bonus round, she correctly chose several other letters in addition to the given “RSTLNE”. (She also had a joker that allowed her to guess an additional letter.)
The sign read: “_ _ _ERING S _ ME HELP.”
Vivian incorrectly guessed “Request Help,” “Answer Help,” and “Find Help” while the 10-second clock was counting down.

When her time was up, the correct answer was displayed: “OFFER HELP.” That’s when Seacrest made the heartbreaking revelation.
“And Vivian…” Seacrest said solemnly before showing her the $1 million card and then turning to show it to the audience.
Meanwhile, Vivian stood there speechless for a while, her mouth open in disbelief.
“You were so close to the million dollars. You almost had it,” Seacrest said sympathetically. “Are you OK?”
“I’m fine,” she reassured him, still processing what had happened.
On Instagram, a viewer reacted to the devastating miss and wrote: “I felt so sorry for Vivian 😢.”
Another Instagram user lamented: “This is a heartbreaking loss for a million dollars,” while someone else exclaimed: “Noooo!” and added: “Vivian you were amazing! Chin up and don’t let this drop 👑.”
Meanwhile, one X user (formerly of Twitter) wrote: “The poor lady on Wheel of Fortune was so close to winning a million dollars oh my god.”
A more critical viewer shared about X: “That’s impossible because she missed that easy puzzle! Plus the prize was $1 million!!! What!!!!!”

Even though she didn’t win the $1 million, the good news is that Vivian didn’t go home empty-handed; she did take home $27,300 and a trip to Europe.
