White House Park to be renovated with ,000 in government funding

A local Midstate park will be undergoing new changes after the state approved a $65,000 grant.

State Rep. Sabi Kumar (R-Springfield) announced Wednesday that the grant will be used for renovations at White House Municipal Park.

White House city leaders hope to use the funds to:

  • Build a parking lot with 20 spaces for the dog park
  • Renovation of the concession stand at the baseball/softball field
  • Add a shade structure with benches for the new tennis courts

Renovations to the food stall include ensuring the building meets commercial design standards, replacing the roof and creating a storage area and meeting room.

“Our local parks provide the community with numerous recreational opportunities that benefit their physical health and well-being,” Kumar said. “White House Municipal Park provides citizens with a place to gather, play and enjoy the great outdoors. These renovations will enhance amenities for years to come and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will administer the grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF).

The LPRF program provides government funding to complement local authorities’ investments in recreation projects and the purchase of land for parks, natural areas, green spaces and recreational facilities.
