Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl shocked fans on September 10 when he announced that he had had a child “outside” his marriage.
“I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” he wrote in his Instagram statement.
He also confirmed that he would give his newborn daughter “love and support.”
Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum married on August 2, 2003, at their home in Los Angeles and have three daughters together: Violet, Harper and Ophelia.
Blum stays out of the spotlight and leads a private life, although the musician has revealed some details about their love over the years.
Learn more about Grohl’s wife below.
She is a former model
As a teenager, Blum worked as a model and once appeared on the cover of Teen magazine.
She told the publication that one of her favorite bands was Nirvana, for whom Grohl was a drummer between 1990 and 1994.
When she met Grohl in 2001, she was a producer at MTV.
She worked for the Foo Fighters
Blum has worked with the Foo Fighters both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
She directed the band’s 2002 music video for “Walking a Line” and appeared in the video for “White Limo” from the Foo Fighters’ 2011 album Wasting Light.
Not surprisingly, she also served as the muse for several of the rock band’s songs, including “Statues” and “Burn Away.”
“This song is about my wife and I. To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing the tombstones of a married couple next to each other in a cemetery,” Grohl told GQ about “Statues” in 2008.
In a 2006 chat with AV Club, he described “Burn Away” as a “romantic…final ballad” he wrote about his love for Blum.
She was ghosted by Grohl
It wasn’t exactly love at first sight between Grohl and Blum. In fact, the rocker admitted to ignoring her for several months when they first started dating.
“When I met my wife, we went on a few dates and I decided I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling,” he told Elle in 2007.
“After three months, I had an epiphany and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again.'”
She has made public appearances with Grohl
Although she prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Blum has attended important events alongside her husband.
In July 2024, the couple took part in the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London.
Blum also walked the red carpet at the 2023 Grammys with Grohl and their three daughters.
She helps Grohl stay grounded
The “Pretender” singer praised his family over the years as a force that gave him support.
“I couldn’t go on tour if I didn’t have both feet firmly on the ground. Jordyn and Violet are anchors that keep me from disappearing completely,” he told the Guardian in 2007.
