- Two injured in nighttime shooting outside Bronx Bodega
BRONX, NY— A shooting incident outside a Bronx corner store late Thursday night left two people injured, including a woman who was closing up a nearby tobacco shop. The violence broke out around 1:10 a.m. on West Fordham Road in University Heights.
A 43-year-old man was shot in the back and is currently in critical but stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. At the same time, a 37-year-old woman who was closing the tobacco shop was also hit by bullets. She did not realize she had been hit until minutes after she heard the first commotion.
The identity of the shooter(s) is still unknown and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Both victims were unintended targets in this sudden exchange of gunfire.
