Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” is back on air for the start of its second week and the streaming giant has secured a strong opponent for the season opener.

The Buffalo Bills are on the road to face the Miami Dolphins in a battle that will determine who comes out on top in the race for the AFC East.

The Bills and Dolphins were two of three NFL teams to win despite being down 14 points in Week 1 – something that hadn’t happened in the first week of the season in 45 years.

Buffalo made its comeback in a 34-28 offensive battle against the Arizona Cardinals, with Josh Allen scoring four total touchdowns. The veteran quarterback also posted a passer rating of 137.7 in that game – the third-best in the NFL for the week – and eased any concerns fans had about the impact the Stefon Diggs trade would have on Allen’s productivity.

Meanwhile, Miami got off to a slow start against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that began just hours after Miami-Dade police arrested Tyreek Hill on his way to the stadium.

The Dolphins woke up in the second half and turned the game around when safety Jevon Holland stripped Jaguars running back Travis Etienne of the ball just before the fourth-year pro could reach the end zone. Etienne’s loss was followed by an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa to Hill that started Miami’s scoring run.

The Dolphins outscored the Jaguars 13-0 in the second half to pull out a 20-17 victory. Miami will look to carry that defensive dominance into their shortened game against the Bills.

Here’s everything you need to know about Thursday Night Football Week 2.

Who’s playing on Thursday Night Football tonight?

The Bills (1-0) and Dolphins (1-0) play the first “Thursday Night Football” game of the season on Amazon Prime in Week 2.

Buffalo enters the game with a clear advantage, as starter Josh Allen has a career record of 10-2 against the Dolphins, including a streak of four straight wins, including the Bills’ 34-31 victory over their division rival during the 2023 NFL playoffs.

However, Allen is dealing with a hand injury that Buffalo’s medical staff will monitor closely. The ailment affects Allen’s hand, which he doesn’t use for throwing, and he said he was “fine” after the Bills’ win over the Cardinals. That makes it likely he will start against the Dolphins, though his overall health and ability to grip the ball will continue to need to be monitored given the quick turnaround from Week 1 to Week 2.

The Dolphins should be confident of ending the Bills’ winning streak against them for reasons beyond Allen’s injury. Buffalo’s defense and special teams allowed the Cardinals to score 28 points and seemed to have trouble containing quick, tricky players like Kyler Murray and Greg Dortch. That should give Hill and Jaylen Waddle a chance to make some big plays.

NFL fans can expect a high-scoring game to kick off the TNF slate. The Bills and Dolphins have combined to score at least 61 points in three of their last four meetings. With Allen full or close to full, the two teams should have a chance to repeat that feat once again.
