“Always. While she’s making me my afternoon snack, while she’s putting me to bed, she’s always singing,” he said. “And I, 10, 11 years old, would say, ‘Mommy, stop, this is so annoying, I’m trying to watch the show. Why are you always singing? My friends’ moms don’t sing all the time,’ you’re just 11, right? And she’d say, ‘Oh, okay, sorry,’ or she’d turn the volume up to annoy me.”
“It’s always easy to be wise in hindsight, but I wish I had asked her to sing more, because when I think of her, that’s how I feel,” he added. “The moments where there were just – the quiet moments of safety and happiness and normality and being together. We didn’t have to be in the same room, but I knew where she was. I miss that.”
