Will Hurricane Debby affect your flight from Logan Airport this week? Expect delays.

Are you flying out of Boston Logan International Airport this week? You might be thinking about Hurricane Debby.

The tropical storm strengthened into a hurricane over the weekend and was heading toward Florida early Monday morning. According to the National Weather Service, the eye of the storm is expected to move through Georgia and the Carolinas, but its slow progress will bring heavy rains along the entire east coast for several days, causing significant flight disruptions.

“Due to Hurricane Debby, flights to and from the Southeastern United States may be impacted over the next few days. If you are planning to travel to this region, please check with your airline,” Logan Airport posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Last weekend, the first effects of Debby were already felt: hundreds of cancellations and delays on international and domestic flights, as well as numerous diverted flights that unexpectedly landed in Boston.

With flights canceled and hotels booked for the city’s summer tourism, many people are stranded in Logan. And with the hurricane slowly creeping up the coast, the situation doesn’t seem to be improving in the next few days.
