A woman was arrested for illegal gambling activities in northern Mississippi.
On Thursday, Grenada County Sheriff’s Office officers and agents from the Mississippi Gaming Commission and Alcoholic Beverage Control executed a search warrant at the AK Express Mart on Highway 8 East.
At the scene, investigators discovered several allegedly illegal slot machines as well as money that was presumably used for illegal gambling. The money and one gaming machine were confiscated by the police. The other machines were destroyed.
Amy Watson was arrested and charged with gambling violations, illegal sale of alcohol and illegal gambling. Watson was taken to the Grenada County Jail and held on $2,500 bail. The owner of the gas station was contacted while authorities were on scene, but police say he refused to appear at the scene.
According to records from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office, Amro K Alomari is the owner of AK Express Mart.
