Yayoi Kusama unveils impressive sculpture “Infinite Accumulation” at Liverpool Street Station in London

Yayoi Kusama’s latest public sculpture, Infinite accumulationmade a big appearance outside Londons busy Liverpool Street station. A swirling mass of metallic spheres on twisted wires, this mesmerizing piece presents a fresh take on Kusama’s iconic polka dot theme, adding a touch of modernity to her famous style.

“London is a city of constant movement and diverse cultures,” Kusama told Artnet, reflecting on her inspiration. “The spheres represent individual personalities, while the curved lines suggest an underlying social fabric.” In this way, Kusama captures the dynamic energy and interconnectedness of London’s vibrant communities.

With an impressive height of 33 feet and a width of 40 feet, Infinite accumulation now serves as a prominent landmark at the eastern entrance to the Elizabeth Line, a recently opened extension of the subway. This installation is part of a larger series of public Art was commissioned to celebrate the new line and joins the works of other renowned artists such as Chantal Joffe and Douglas Gordon. The project was commissioned by the Crossrail Art Foundation and supported by Kusama’s London gallery Victoria Miro.
